Gearing up to be a full fledged Pharmaceutical Company

Exclusive Interview with the Press Trust of India (PTI)

New Delhi (PTI): ATLAS Laboratories and Pharmaceuticals Limited (ALPL) on Monday said it expects to seal contract manufacturing deals with a few big multinational and domestic drug firms, even as it looks to graduate into a full fledged drug firm.

The company, which is eyeing a turnover of Rs 500 crore in the next five years, is also looking at tapping the capital market in a couple of years with its maiden public offer.

Talks are almost in final stages with some multinational and domestic major pharmaceutical companies for expanding our contract manufacturing basket, ALPL Executive Director Mr. Ashwin Kapur told PTI.

He said the contract manufacturing would be for a wide range of therapeutic segments mainly in solid dosage forms, liquids, dry syrups and injections, with proposed betalactum facilities in the future.

Mr. Kapur, however, declined to name the firms with which ALPL was in talks with but said expanding the contract manufacturing business was a part of its strategy to become a full fledged drug firm with its own innovative products as well as generics in future.

Currently we have about 15 products in the market. In the next five years, we aim to have a minimum of about 100-150 products, Mr. Kapur said.

He also said the company was also in talks with a few MNCs to market lifestyle products in India without divulging the details.

ALPL, backed by the promoters of Atlas Cycles (Haryana) Limited, is targeting to clock atleast Rs 500 crore in the next five years against the current fiscal with a turnover of around Rs 35 crore, he added.
